About

The EPIC project recognizes the significance of Active Citizenship in driving societal change and addressing social challenges. Through the project, youth workers and young people in the Western Balkans will be empowered to identify social issues and develop ideas for social enterprises. EPIC aims to merge the principles of active citizenship and social entrepreneurship to guide and support young people in transforming their ideas into impactful businesses, thus creating meaningful employment opportunities and addressing societal challenges.

Project Overview

The EPIC project was structured in recognition of the transformative role Active Citizenship can play in society, laying the ground for citizen-led actions and initiatives to address social issues and challenges operating as a driver of change. Moreover, it perceives Social Entrepreneurship as a form of business operation that is interrelated with and an expression of Active citizenship.

Project aims
  • Foster cooperation across different regions of the world through joint initiatives;
  • Raise the capacity of organisations working with young people outside formal learning
  • Support the development of youth work;
  • Promote non-formal learning activities, with a view to improve the level of competences while ensuring the active participation of young people in society
Specific Objectives

Objective 1. Develop a full-suite of catered educational and capacity building resources and tools to build up the capacity of youth organizations in Albania, Bosnia and Herzekovian and Kosovo, in the field of social entrepreneurship.

Objective 2. Educate and empower young people to develop and manage social enterprises.

Objective 3. Build up the conception and capacity of youth workers and youth organisations to promote active participation and social entrepreneurship.

Objective 4. Raise awareness on key social issues (e.g. environment, inclusion) and contribution social enterprises can have at a local, national and transnational level

Objective 5. Lay the ground for the development of a support structure for youth to become actively involved in the field of social entrepreneurship.

Objective 6. Develop a social entrepreneurship ecosystem in the implementing countries

Moreover, its engagement follows on sustainable environment and labour market through VET and social entrepreneurship.

Peer Educators Network (PEN) is a non-governmental and non-profitable youth organization founded in 2008. Our main working areas are youth empowerment and employment, voluntarism, gender equality, social innovations and entrepreneurship, healthy lifestyle, anti-violence, environment and social inclusion. PEN headquarters is in Prishtina, but we are active in all Kosovo regions. PEN has a wide network of volunteers and activists active throughout Kosovo, acting as agents of positive change in their communities.

The team has decades of expertise in implementing over 100 projects in more than 30 countries.
